What Happened?

Solomon Israel Sampson a 10-year old double orphan(both parents are deceased) from Ifa Ikot Opkon in Akwa Ibom state, was sent packing from his uncle’s house on an allegation that he is a witch. In search of where to lay his head, Solomon eventually found himself a niche in a woodwork shop where he gathered pieces of wood together and made himself a ‘home.’

What WEWE-LOPIN 2 DID?

USAID- funded WEWE-LOPIN2 engaged  community volunteer and secretary of the village council who enrolled Solomon into WEWE-LOPIN2 program reported the his situation to the village council and  immediately, the community improvement team(CIT) set-up by WEWE-LOPIN 2 investigated the matter

The CIT also reported the inability of Solomon to continue in school to the village council and ₦10,000 (ten thousand naira), about USD28.57 was raised for him to  be re-enrolled back to school.

This got Solomon school uniform, books and bag and now he’s back in school and currently in primary two.

While investigation is  ongoing as regard Solomon’s uncle allegation, one of the CIT members offered to house Solomon and he has been moved from where he made a ‘home’ for himself to stay with the CIT Member.
