Brief Bio Description of WEWE Incorporate Board of Trustees  

Back ground: WEWE signed a Cooperative Agreement (CA) with USAID in July 22, 2014 to implement it Local Partner’s Initiative for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (LOPIN) in Anambra and Imo State. The CA included 28 special award conditions, one of the conditions in the area of legal structure recommended that WEWE should amend, finalize and increase its current board membership from 3 to 6 in accordance to the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission requirement. WEWE has addressed this condition by increasing its number of board members to seven.

WEWE herein introduces its 6 – man board of incorporated board of trustees

1. Mercy Oluwayemisi Akeredolu (PhD): Chairperson/WEWE Incorporated Board of Trustees

Dr. Mercy Oluwayemisi Akeredolu is from Akara LGA in Ondo State – South West Nigeria and she was appointed Chairperson of Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) on January 10, 2015 at a board meeting where not less than 2/3rd majority of the members present formed a quorum. Prior to this election. She has been an active board member of WEWE for 3 years.

Dr. Akeredolu has over 21 year experience as an Agricultural Extension Specialist. She is currently the West Africa Regional Coordinator of Sasakawa Africa Fund for Extension Education (SAFE) and Nigeria Country Representative for Winrock International. Prior to these positions, she was the socio-economist for the EU West Africa Program on Artisanal Fisheries Development between 1995 and 1998.  She  joined SAFE in 2003 as Country Coordinator for Mali and later, concurrently for Burkina Faso, a schedule that brought her in professional contact with top Government Functionaries and University Administrators in most of  ECOWAS countries.

Dr. Akeredolu has a B.Sc. Bachelor in Vocational Agricultural Education (1982) and Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Economics (1984) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a Masters and Doctorate in Agricultural Extension from the University of Ibadan Nigeria (1991) as well as an MBA from Antwerp School of Management (2002).

Dr. Akeredolu’s work has contributed in reaching 74,500 farmers, artisan fisher men and midcareer rural extension working in over 40 African countries. Mercy is also a board member of African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) Board Member based in Uganda.

She is highly fluent (spoken and written) in English and French.

Dr. Akeredolu has served variously as Lecturer and Head of Department of Agricultural extension University of Agriculture Abeokuta Nigeria, and as Consultant and Researcher on Agricultural extension policy.

Mercy has a passion for orphans and vulnerable children and widows and also for children with disabilities.

 

2. Moses Adebisi Ofeoshi: Secretary/WEWE Incorporate Board of Trustees
Barr. Ofeoshi
is from Atte, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, he is a litigation specialist with over 23 years working experience as a legal practitioner in Nigeria. He owns a law firm and is the principal partner of M. A. Ofeoshi & Co (Adonai Law Firm).

He has LL. B (Hons) and BL Degree in law from the Bendel State University of Ekpoma and the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He has a passion for public litigation particularly in the area of enforcement of civic rights, human rights and in helping the less vulnerable of the society.

He has handled a number of high profile cases in that regard including the 2006 – 2008 Victory Motherless Babies case against the Federal Government and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja for oppressive and arbitrary conducts by agents of government.

He has to his honor a number of awards including The Development in Nigeria Merit Award (DINMA) 2013, The Nigeria Selflessness Service Gold Award (NISSGA) 2014 and the Grand Award for Productivity in Africa (GAPA) 2014.

He is a member of the WEWE Board of Trustees and the Secretary to the Board. Barrister Ofeoshi currently provides pro bono legal services to widows in partnership with WEWE. He brings to bear his experience in the sphere of law to the board.

 

 3. Gloria Njiowhor: Member/WEWE Incorporate Board of Trustees

Ms. Njiowhor is from Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State and she has 11 years working experience as a public servant and she is currently the Principal Administrative Officer/Electoral Officer on grade level 12 at Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) covering Niger State zone.

Gloria has a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Port Harcourt since1999, she also has a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Public Administration 2004 University of Abuja.

Ms. Njiowhor is a born women leader with a passionate for improving the lives of vulnerable children and widows.  She brings to the board her leadership, administrative, operational skills gained in coordinating elections and her passion for vulnerable children and widows.

 

4. Bawa-N’allah Elayo Odela: Member/ WEWE Incorporate Board of Trustees
Mr. Odela
is from Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State is the head Welfare Department in Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja . Prior to this position he was a public servant and a trained aircraft engineer and a pilot. Mr.  Odela coordinates the welfare of the less privileged and needy members of the church which includes distributing food and materials supplies and providing psychosocial and spiritual support to widows, the poor and   orphans and vulnerable children in over 23 orphanages is Abuja.

He is a graduate of Ambrose Alli University with a post graduate PGD in Business Administration. He is also a professional Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with Electrics/Instrument License. He has attended several leadership courses/training in Ministry/Church management.

Bawa is seasoned administrator, a diehard advocate for a grassroots support and defense for less privilege and needy. He is also a member of Rotary Club International, an Enforcer of Peace and Love, a member of Nigeria Society of Aircraft Engineers and a member of Nigeria Society of Aircraft Pilots.

 

5. Anthony Okereke: Member/WEWE Incorporated Board of Trustee

Engr. Okereke is from Okigwe LGA Imo State. He has 20 years working experience as a public servant as a Chief Scientific Officer with Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Ministry of Science and Technology, Abuja. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering and is a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

 

6. Deacon Dike Eleazer Chimezie: Member/ WEWE Incorporate Board of Trustees

Deacon Chimezie is from Nkwere L.G.A. Imo State. He has over fifteen years working experience as general duty officer in investigation, Surveillance, Crime control and Traffic duties under the Nigeria Police Force, 1982 – 1992 and Security Management experience as senior Security Guard & Chief Security Officer of NEXIM BANK. In NEXIM bank Deacon Dike was trained in human resource management and administration to manage security personnel of NEXIM Bank Nigeria.

Dike has a National Diploma in Management Business Administration University of Calabar, 2001 – 2002. He has received the 15 years long service merit award and an award for bravery in confronting men of the underworld. He has since retired from service and is now actively providing social welfare  services  as an ordained deacon of the Living Faith Church, a.k.a Winner Chapel, Abuja.
